First Industrial Promotes Robert H. Muir to Executive Vice President

CHICAGO, August 18, 1999 – First Industrial Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: FR) announced today that Robert H. Muir has been promoted to executive vice president of the Company's development group. “Bob has played an integral role in making First Industrial's development capabilities what they are today,” President and CEO Michael W. Brennan said. “The increasing demand for First Industrial's development services has required Bob to augment his role and take on additional responsibilities. We consider ourselves quite fortunate to have someone with such a wide range of skills and talents as part of our leadership."

As the Company's executive vice president for development, Muir will oversee all aspects of the development group's operations. Muir previously served as senior vice president at First Industrial, and will incorporate those responsibilities into his new position. Before joining First Industrial, he was president of a general contracting and consulting firm, and prior to that was a member of senior management at Norwood Construction Co.
